Past Retreats

We tailor the week according to the specific needs and goals of our guests. By keeping group numbers low we are able to devote more time to each guest and their requirements.

You can be assured that every effort will be spent to make your yoga holiday as enjoyable as possible.

The write up below will give you an idea of what goes on at our yoga retreats in Ardèche.

Chateau

Day 1: Saturday – Arrival Day

Whilst Louise collected Mark Freeth our yoga instructor for the week, our chef went to the local farmer’s market to seek out organic fruit and vegetables. Robin spent time preparing the chateau for yoga practice. With all the guests arriving by 5pm we were then able to relax and enjoy an evening meal together talking about the week ahead.

Day 2: Sunday – Activities Begin

Following an hour and a half yoga practice, we relax on the terrace with breakfast and talked more about our aims for the week. Guests who wished to rock climb were then introduced to basic equipment ready for the climbing session that afternoon. A ‘light stretching’ evening yoga session took place in the chateau before dinner and an early night.

Day 3: Monday – Climbers Progress

Breakfast followed another hour and a half of yoga practice this morning before relaxing in the Chateau. The afternoon climbing session introduced new movement skills and two guests led their first outdoor routes. Another yoga session before a quiet dinner as everyone was content after a full day.

Day 4: Tuesday – New Climbing Areas Required

We originally planned only a few days climbing activity but our guests were keen to climb as much as possible. So while the guests relaxed and enjoyed additional yoga classes at the Chateau, Robin and Louise searched for suitably impressive locations. The yoga sessions focused on core and inverted postures today.

Picnic

Day 5: Wednesday – First Picnic

Visited a great location after morning yoga practice today, and in what turned out to be a theme for the rest of the week, had a picnic prepared by our chef. The river turned out to be a little too cold to entice us all in after another great climbing session. We then returned the Chateau for a cup of yogi tea before our evening practice.

Yoga Class

Day 6: Thursday – Partner Practice

Our morning yoga session concentrated on using a partner to help adjust in certain postures and enhance stretches in others. Everyone climbed well in the afternoon, with all guests and staff leading routes. The usual yoga session in the evening re-energised everyone ready for dinner.

Day 7: Friday – Last Activity Day

A full speed, high energy yoga class pushed us all on the last day, everyone feeling fantastic and noticing the progression since the beginning of the week. This was followed with a relaxing day in the woods; bouldering, practicing yoga and sunbathing. Everyone had a lovely time celebrating the week with the same enthusiasm they had displayed throughout.

Chateau Ground

Day 8: Saturday – Leaving Day

People were sad to have to leave the beautiful chateau behind today and after breakfast, guests relaxed and enjoyed the location for the final time before packing. Guest feedback was incredibly positive in all respects, and we’re really excited about trying to make our September retreat even better.
